Update Current Cost EnviR Data Cable & Mac OSX 10.7 Driver Installation

Current Cost EnviR Data Cable & Mac OSX 10.7 -- Driver Installation

This article is an update on my last installation article that used the Prolific OSX 10.7 drivers. These drivers did function correctly but did not work with the Current Cost Pachube.com application or the Current Charts application. If you are experiencing issues with the Prolific drivers not functioning correctly with your Pachube.com or Current Charts application please follow the directions below.

Requirements:

  • Current Cost EnviR Energy Monitor Device
  • Current Cost USB Data Cable (Black/White) Version
  • Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion)

Current Cost USB Data Cable Driver Installation

1.  Download and Install Kext Utility.

2. Download osx-pl2303.kext.tgz (unarchive once downloaded)

3. Open Kext Utility and drag osx-pl2303.kext file into kext utility

4. Wait for Kext Utility to finish (should ask for password)

5. Restart computer

6. Open terminal and enter "ls /dev/tty.*" (without quotes)

7. Verify the "/dev/tty.PL2303-0000161D" or simular "/dev/tty.PL2303-xxxxxxxx" is displayed

  1. Excellent information for those people having issues with the correct installation of drivers on a MAC, trying to connect to the Current Cost Monitor.

    Good work Daniel.
